Shahrzad Razi, Registered Architect
"Great design is only half the battle. Getting it built is the rest."
Shahrzad Razi is a licensed architect with over 15 years of experience shaping the built environment in Southern California. Based in Pasadena, she has established herself as a technical problem-solver for clients who need to navigate complex zoning codes without sacrificing design quality.
She founded Razi Architects on a simple premise: Architecture should be as efficient as it is beautiful. Whether optimizing a retail floor plan for higher revenue or navigating a difficult Hillside Permit for a custom home, Shahrzad treats every project as a strategic investment for her client.
The Technical Edge
Shahrzad holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona and a Master of Architecture from UCLA’s prestigious SUPRASTUDIOS. This dual background combines Cal Poly’s rigorous technical training with UCLA’s cutting-edge focus on technology and innovation.
She leverages this expertise to integrate BIM (Building Information Modeling) and Sustainable Design (Title 24 & CALGreen) into every project, ensuring that "eco-friendly" is not just a buzzword, but a measurable performance metric.
Local Expertise
Deeply embedded in the Pasadena and Los Angeles markets, Shahrzad understands the specific nuances of local planning departments. She specializes in:
Commercial Repositioning: Helping business owners and brokers accelerate Tenant Improvements (TI).
High-End Residential: Managing "Hillside Overlay" permits and historic renovations.
Adaptive Reuse: Breathing new life into existing structures to minimize environmental impact.
Prior to founding her own firm, Shahrzad honed her skills leading multifamily and high-rise projects, giving her the "big firm" discipline that she now applies to boutique commercial and residential works.
We are deeply committed to integrating sustainability
With a strong belief in the responsibility we hold towards the environment and future generations, we prioritize sustainable design principles throughout our projects. From the initial conceptualization phase to the final construction and beyond, we employ strategies to reduce energy consumption, minimize waste, and promote the use of eco-friendly materials. By incorporating passive design techniques, such as optimizing natural light and ventilation, and utilizing renewable energy sources, such as solar panels or geothermal systems, we aim to create buildings that are energy-efficient and environmentally responsible. Additionally, we emphasize the use of sustainable materials, such as recycled or locally sourced materials, and incorporate green spaces and landscaping to enhance biodiversity and improve air quality. Through our architecture services, we strive to create a built environment that harmoniously coexists with nature while providing functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces for individuals and communities.
