300 Seneca Elementary School - Modernization - DSK Architects

Role: Architectural Designer

Modernizing an active elementary school requires a delicate balance of rigorous safety standards and innovative educational design. For the Seneca Elementary School modernization, Razi Architects led the comprehensive upgrade of existing facilities to meet current Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements.

The scope included a complete seismic retrofit, ADA accessibility upgrades, and the integration of 21st-century learning technologies. We navigated the complex DSA approval process to ensure full compliance with structural safety, fire-life-safety, and access compliance codes.

Beyond the code upgrades, the design revitalized the learning environment. We introduced flexible classroom layouts and improved daylighting strategies to enhance student engagement. The project was phased carefully to ensure the school remained operational and safe for students throughout construction.
